From June 10 to August 10 2013, the CEA and CNRS are coordinating a major measurement campaign as part of the most comprehensive survey of atmospheric pollution in the Mediterranean region.

The goal of this international project, the Chemistry-Aerosol Mediterranean Experiment (ChArMEx), an integral part of Mediterranean Integrated Studies at Regional and Local Scales (MISTRALS), an international interdisciplinary metaprogram, is to improve our understanding of interactions between atmospheric pollution and climate. These interactions may be the source of worsening hot, dry summer weather conditions in the Mediterranean basin, and deteriorating air quality.
